In honor of this week’s SXSW festival, we figured we’d bring you a tale of festivals past. Of all the things we’ve been able to do with this project none may have been able to happen without the magical chaos that is South by Southwest. SX is always full of random little moments that become memorable. Some are exciting, some devastating, many are hilarious and occasionally you end up with a dog and a wife….but that’s a whole different story.
Me and Walker conceived this quirky little thing called Song Confessional way back in 2018 as a one off SXSW activation. Parked right downtown on Sabine, in between 6th and 7th St we solicited random people walking by to come in and tell us a secret or interesting story. A rotating cast of musicians were immediately writing and recording a song inside the trailer and we just gave it to that person never intended to be heard publicly. Oh how far we’ve come.
We spent this week posted up at Scholz Garten with KUTX’s live broadcast for our second year in a row. You guys really showed up and told us some great stories and this one just happens to be perfectly on topic. Our confessor shares her story of almost missing a gig due to no fault of her own. This one goes out all to all the fellow musicians, organizers, and hustlers surviving their final night of yet another SXSW.
