Confessions 1:22

"Lost in Love"

I’m keeping it short and sweet this week with another confessor that’s looking for that thing we call love, but this one feels unique. I don’t know if it’s something about the words used or the long pauses, but this confession feels honest and more real than some.

At the time this was recorded, our confessor was dating a man while discovering her attraction to women. As much as she or anyone would love to hit pause in life and take time to process all of the emotions, she is forced to make real time decisions that she’s not sure how to make, leaving her where she is when she stepped into the booth. Still in her current relationship and distancing herself from her friend.

Maybe that’s what I love about it - how real time this confession is. We receive a lot of confessions that are more of a reflection on emotional times rather than in the midst of one. In a reflection, the emotions were processed and more likely concrete in someone's beliefs about what happened or what it meant. Our confessor here though is lost and in the process of navigating her emotions, unsure about her decisions and what it all means.

This confession was collected from our booth in Austin at the Long Center last year. I would love to follow up to see if they’re still lost in love.

Cheers,

Tate
