"Salvia Revelations"

Life has a funny way of teaching us things when we least expect. What starts as a normal mundane day can unfold into one of the more profound moments of our lives, leaving us with lessons and perceptions we hold onto forever. These moments happen all the time. Some big. Some small. Some brief. Some long and deliberate. Some by choice. Some completely by accident. All of these little moments are how we define ourselves and create our story. They tell us who we are and what we believe. What we’re willing to tolerate or not. What we truly want in this one chance we get to be here.

If I really think about it, there’s probably about 8 moments in my life that have defined most of who I think I am. My convictions, belief system, and general philosophy have been chiseled out of these happenings. Some, a result of intense trauma and others exuberant joy, all mushed together to make me feel a certain way about myself and help me tell my story. Today’s confessor shares one of his moments.

Me and Walk having a ‘moment’ circa 2017

Of all the things I’ve done in life, salvia is up there with the worst. For those that don’t know, it’s an entirely legal and terrible psychedelic that after you smoke, tears the walls of the real world down for a brief few minutes that feel like a lifetime. I’ve actually never seen or heard of anyone have a positive experience with salvia which is my theory on why it’s legal…no one wants it. That’s why this confession completely caught me off guard. Our confessor’s experience with salvia left him with a knowledge and yearning he hadn’t’ previously known, and forever became one of his ‘moments’.

What are your defining moments? Are you aware of them? How have they made you who you are? Did you seek them out or did they find you? So many questions to ask ourselves and continue discovering who we are.

Until next time…
